The original concept for Following Bunny Trails was to be a blog about the joys and trials of living with a child with ADHD, and it will be about that, but I didn’t want it to be written solely on this topic. It took about 3 days of brainstorming to come up with a blog name that wouldn’t pigeon hole me into a tight niche such as ADHD, but would allow me to expand onto other topics that might affect our little family, or tickle this writer’s funny bone.
The Urban Dictionary’s definition of “following a bunny trail” means to go off topic during a discussion. The first time I heard the phrase was from my Aunt. Her quiet demeanor and deadpan delivery was key to causing my laughing fit, which put the phrase into my memory forever. She had just finished a long phone conversation with my mother, and simply said that she was exhausted from trying to follow her bunny trails. I have this image of a scared little bunny hopping left and right, zig zagging all over the place to avoid it’s attacker; and it just seemed perfect for a blog that is not only about ADHD, but is also written by someone who has a tendency to digress. (We’ve all heard the joke: “I don’t have ADD, it’s just that…OhLookAKitty!” ) Otherwise known as “following bunny trails.”
